Johnny Roberts DGC
First, let’s start in Arvada, Colorado, where Johnny Roberts remains as one of the longest-standing Colorado courses, originally established in 1978. Commonly referred to as the “granddaddy” of Colorado disc golf courses, Johnny Roberts is an extremely popular, free 18-hole golf course located a few blocks from the center of Olde Town Arvada.
Suitable for beginners, the majority of holes on the Johnny Roberts Disc Golf Course are below 300 feet. However, the course also offers many fun challenges, several creek crossings, and opportunities to enjoy the adjacent playground, skatepark, and picnic areas.
Beaver Ranch DGC
Ranked as the 11th best disc golf course on the planet by UDisc (a popular app for the sport) in 2021, the Beaver Ranch Disc Golf Course offers world-class FROLF in Conifer, Colorado, about one hour southwest of Denver. A small fee is required for unlimited play on Beaver Ranch’s 63 holes, with season passes available for frequent frisbee golfers.

Bailey DGC
Not far behind Beaver Ranch in its international ranking, the Bailey Disc Golf Course was dubbed the 25th best disc golf course in the world in 2021. Featuring 21 world-class holes and a very reasonable suggested day use fee, the Bailey Disc Golf Course is full of massive mountaintop drives, craggy rocks, densely forested areas, and other fun Rocky Mountain obstacles.

Bear Mountain DGC
Landing itself just 2 spots behind the Bailey Disc Golf Course in UDisc’s 2021 international ranking, Bear Mountain is a neighboring frisbee golf course hosted on private land. Bear Mountain is located about 3 miles from the Bailey Disc Golf Course and features similar forest and meadow scenery.
The Bear Mountain disc golf course was built in 2012 in conjunction with a responsible forestry plan. Today, it features 22 holes with moderate challenges winding through open fields and groves of Ponderosa and Aspen trees. BuckSnort DGC
Looking for some exclusively? The Bucksnort Disc Golf Course located in Pine, Colorado is a members-only course offering a one-of-a-kind disc golfing experience. Featuring 28 challenging holes around the rocky and wooded features of the BuckSnort Plateau, the scenic course is designed for fun and interesting shots all day long.

Pueblo City Park DGC
Next, the Pueblo City Park Disc Golf Course is a staple for locals and an absolute must-play for disc golfers visiting Pueblo County. Conveniently located in Pueblo’s City Park, the free course is the 3rd oldest in the country, originally established in 1978.

Lion’s Den DGC
Offering another great outdoor activity near Lake George in Park County, the Lion’s Den Disc Golf Course is a free 20-hole destination that is generally uncrowded. Located in the Lake George Community Park, the frisbee golf course features the dense pines and dramatic rocky crags of the surrounding Pike National Forest.
Frolfers should be prepared for significant elevation changes when playing at the Lion’s Den Disc Golf Course. Bathrooms are located onsite, with several campsites and lodging opportunities available nearby.
Golden Eagle DGC
Tucked deep into the Buckhorn Canyon of the Roosevelt National Forest, the Golden Eagle Disc Golf Course is one of the most scenic and secluded courses in Colorado. Golden Eagle features 18 moderately challenging holes roughly an hour outside of Fort Collins.
Navigating through old-growth pines, aspens, trickling streams, and meadows, the Golden Eagle Disc Golf Course is a Larimar-County favorite, offering a relaxing frisbee golf experience with a large chance to encounter local wildlife.
Colorado Mountain College DGC
At Colorado Mountain College’s Leadville campus, the institution maintains a free 18-hole disc golf course, open to the public. The CMC Disc golf course features plenty of technical wooded shots as well as several holes designed for beginners.
Located directly south of the campus, the course is laid out in a figure-eight pattern, making it easy to play a quick 9 holes or the full set of 18. Here, the back 9 is considered more challenging by most visitors.
Dillon DGC
On the east side of the Dillon Reservoir, the Dillon Disc Golf Course is a popular destination that features both a challenging 18-hole course and a 9-hole family-friendly option. Completely free to visit and play, the Dillon Disc Golf Course offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains in generally open-field conditions.

Watson Island DGC
On the western slope of Colorado, few FROLF courses offer the scenery provided by the Watson Island Disc Golf Course, conveniently located near the center of Grand Junction. Hugging the shores of the Colorado River, the 19-hole course features water hazards and holes designed for all skill levels.
Free to play, the Watson Island Disc Golf Course also overlooks the adjacent Botanical Gardens and is open year-round for public play.
Cross Creek DGC
Deep into the mountains of Eagle County, the Cross Creek Disc Golf Course is an unbelievably scenic private frisbee golf course. For a small daily fee, visitors are welcome to 18 holes of Rocky Mountain scenery with dense forests, water features, and distant mountain views.

The Optimist and Pessimist DGC
Along the Platte River in Fort Morgan, Colorado, visitors have their choice of the Optimist and Pessimist Disc Golf Courses in Riverside Park. Depending on outlook, attitude, and skill level, visitors can choose between a total of 45 unique holes between the two courses.
The Pessimist was the first United States installation by DiscGolfPark, a global brand with over 500 active frisbee golf courses worldwide. With the sport’s growing popularity in Morgan County, there are also FROLF opportunities nearby at the Quail Dunes Golf Course and Watrous Park in Brush, Colorado.
Haybro Red Tail DGC
If you’re looking for a challenging course near Steamboat Springs, the Haybro Red Tail Disc Golf Course is a great, well-maintained course with panoramic views of scenic Routt County. There is a small fee required to play here and each hole offers a new set of challenging shots.
In addition to the possibility of purchasing a season pass for the Haybro Red Tail Disc Golf Course, single-day passes grant visitors unlimited access to the course’s 18 holes. With challenging terrain throughout the entire course, visitors are required to sign a waiver before playing.
Poncha Springs DGC
Located in Chaffee County, the Poncha Springs Disc Golf Course is another great PDGA-approved course for 18-holes of free outdoor fun. Primarily composed of short holes, the Poncha Springs course is family-friendly but also offers challenges for advanced players.

Ghost Town DGC
Between Idaho Springs and Central City, Colorado, the Ghost Town Disc Golf Course is a one-of-a-kind destination for scenery, history, and outdoor fun. Located in the once-booming mining town of Russell Gulch, the Ghost Town Disc Golf Course winds through ruins, mining relics, and hilly, aspen-pine forests.

WonderVu DGC
Last but certainly not least, the WonderVu Disc Golf Course (pronounced wonder-view) is another world-class course tucked into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Located in the Coal Creek Canyon between Golden and Nederland, WonderVu is well-maintained and offers 18 holes of challenging fun for a small daily fee.
