WHAT IS EXPANDING THE TABLE FOR JUSTICE?

Expanding the Table for Justice (ETFJ) is a 60-day listening tour organized by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Colorado to connect with local advocacy groups, anointed and appointed leaders, and everyday individuals to learn about their community work, how they view the work of the ACLU, and what they would like to see from the ACLU of Colorado as dedicated, collaborative partners.

WHAT IS THE MISSION?

The ACLU of Colorado’s mission is to protect, defend, and extend the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Colorado. To do so, it is essential that we align with our values of being for the people and of the people. Expanding the Table for Justice’s mission is to collect feedback and take necessary steps to effectively engage as trusted partners and collaborative allies with all communities whose rights are at stake under systemic oppression.

GOALS:

WHO IS ON THE ETFJ TEAM?

Expanding the Table for Justice was created by the ACLU of Colorado’s new Executive Director, Deborah Richardson, whose goal is to transform, in warp speed, to align with our values of being for the people and of the people. Deborah is joined by the project coordinators; Paralegal Nicole Loy, Field Organizer Julian Camera, and Executive Assistant Anna Salinas.

HOW DOES ETFJ OPERATE?

Organizations and individuals will be invited to join an hour to an hour and a half discussion with ETFJ organizers and issue stakeholders. Meeting organizers will ask community groups and individuals a series of questions to understand the scope of their work, what issues matter most to them, and how they view the work of the ACLU of Colorado. Listening sessions will take place throughout the month of July and data collected from the Table for Justice will be published as a public report along with a plan for tangible actions that we will take in response to collected feedback.

WHO IS INVITED TO AN ETFJ MEETING?

Everyone. It is our goal to reach as many communities as possible whose civil rights and civil liberties are impacted by current laws and systemic oppression. If you would like to schedule a listening session with us, please fill out this form.

ASL, CART, and available language interpretation services will be offered at listening sessions when requested (using the survey form). If there are any other accommodations that you would like to request, please email TableForJustice@aclu-co.org.
