A 7,187-square-foot duplex in the heart of Telluride, Colorado, hit the market last week for $33 million, making it the most expensive listing on the market in the Rocky Mountain town.

The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home is listed for more than twice as much as the next priciest property there, according to the Multiple Listing
Service.
The residence takes up the top two floors of a converted commercial space known as the Pederson Building, which is near the shops, restaurants and ski lifts of Telluride’s main drag.

Lars Carlson
of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty called the “reimagined” building a “masterful work of art” in the listing. It’s being sold fully furnished with amenities like sound-proof oversized windows, custom lighting and a system that pumps oxygen into every bedroom.

Offered fully furnished, the open floor plan boasts a gas fireplace, wet bar and retractable doors that lead to the nearly 2,500-square-foot roof deck with mountain views, listing photos show. Down a short flight of stairs, there’s a chef’s kitchen and dining area that also opens to the outdoors for al fresco meals.

The primary bedroom suite has a sitting area, fireplace with a marble surround, a private patio with a hot tub and a dressing room with laundry facilities, according to the listing. In a separate area below the home is a 1,115-square-foot office with a fitness area, spa, sauna and ski room, plus a bunk room.

Telluride, an original boom town founded in the gold rush of the 19th century, is now seeing a new sort of boom as the migration caused by the Covid-19 pandemic continues. Families seeking more space and access to nature have been flocking to the ski town. That’s caused the average price of a single-family home to shoot up more than 50% from $3.34 million to $5.02 million year over year in the first quarter of 2021, according to a first quarter report from LIV Sotheby’s.

There have also been a number of impressive luxury sales since the beginning of the year. For example, actor Tom Cruise sold his 320-acre property in Telluride in May for $39.5 million, Mansion Global reported.

The Pederson Building last traded for $7.44 million in 2018. The owner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Mr. Carlson,
the agent, was not immediately available for comment.
