The regiment, which fought during World War II in Italy and trained for war in Colorado, had 992 killed in action and 4,154 wounded in action during the war. It is still active today as a light infantry division of the Army.
Tourists and locals create a bevy of activity in front of the Solaris Residences on East Meadow Drive in Vail this month. The area is active nightly during the summer and is especially busy each Sunday when Vail Farmer’s Market and Art Show has dozens of vendors on display. The turf-covered area becomes an ice skating rink during the winter.
