I am loving what I am seeing from Colorado this season. Some of the sabermetrics might say they are getting lucky but I think they just have some room to grow.
Colorado Rockies
The Rockies are off to a good start and I am encouraged by the fact that for most of the season they have not been hitting like I think they can. They are getting there though. Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story have been great.
German Marquez is now the undisputed ace of the staff. He does have one loss but all of his peripherals show that he has been dominant and if you watch him up close you can see it easily. He has a 23/5 K:BB ratio. This should be a snap for him.
The bullpen might be the weak link of the team but so far they have not burned the team too much yet. I do not see that being an issue in this game so bet freely.
Seattle Mariners
Seattle is not good and that is only going to get magnified when they take on a team like the Rox who is looking pretty complete these days. Until they can get a few more MLB quality hitters they are really going to struggle. They have the ability to manufacture runs but have not been doing so.
On a better team Justus Sheffield would probably be moved to the bullpen. On Seattle, the Mariners don’t really have much choice other than to run him out there and hope he figures it out. The results have not been good this season with the only positive being that he has kept the ball in the park. I do not expect things to turn in this one.

Marquez and Colorado’s form are the reason that the Rockies are heavy faves in this one. It is easy math.
You don’t have to take the Rockies but there is no case for backing Seattle here. Even if Marquez is a little off the Rox are going to put up some runs.
