Companies such as Amazon and other major online retailers have changed the way we as consumers seek out purchasable goods. And in the wake of a COVID-19 world, it comes as no surprise that contactless sales are growing in popularity.
Just when cannabis deliveries skyrocketed in sales, Matt Frost, founder and CEO of the company , developed one of the state’s. As early as 2014, have been dispensing cannabis and cannabis products in vending machines. From flower to edibles to vape oils—this machine takes and fills out orders and then dispenses them to customers.
The vending machine launched in central Pueblo, Colorado at Strawberry Fields. Currently, there are four vending machines set up at the dispensary. Through a 27-inch touch screen, you can view that location’s menu, fill up your virtual basket and pay with either cash or a debit card.
A second vending machine is scheduled to appear later this year at Starbuds in Aurora, Colorado.
Frost initially came up with the idea when he learned how long wait times were at dispensaries in his home state of Massachusetts. However, when COVID-19 struck and , he soon realized these machines could be a great way to promote contactless sales.
“There are experienced cannabis customers who don’t necessarily need that one-on-one interaction with a budtender,” Frost told . “They know what they want before they walk in, they’re ready to go in and out. By doing this, we’re giving more time back to the people who need hand-holding and want that education from a live person. With COVID and social distancing and contactless, we definitely have an appeal there, as well.”
There is also an app in the works that will allow customers to pre-order and swiftly check-out using the machine. Not to mention, Frost also hints of a “CBD distribution opportunity” that anna is currently developing.
