Greetings from Vail, Colorado, where love is in the air and oxygen is most certainly not in the air! How long to you have to be here before you can breathe? Asking for a friend.
Ladd and I are having a whale of a time, which is a funny thing to say about a mountain vacation, but you know what I mean. This is the first time we’ve ever been to Vail as a married couple without our kids along! We miss them, of course, but we are trudging on and doing our best to survive without them. Har. (No really, kids…we miss you!)
Speaking of kids, I met these cuties while Ladd and I were walking through Vail Village.
A few of them watch my show on Food Network, but honestly it was just fun to be around a gaggle of youngsters in Vail again, considering mine are a) not here, and b) over six feet tall. Loved meeting these boys and girls!
On another note, here’s Ladd on a rock in a creek.
And here’s me on a rock in a creek.
Look at this alternative, though. I was trying to be a fashion influencer and sort of look off to the side as if there is a world of things happening in the periphery.
But the only thing that happened in this photo is that my shirt got caught on the waistband of my yoga pants, which, by the way, are too short, I think? Also, are flip flops okay to wear if they are designed for comfort and orthopedic health? Again, asking for a friend. The only time Ladd and I are in a photo together are first, when I take a selfie…
And second, when a kind stranger snaps one for us.
I am bound and determined to go home with lots of marital pics of Ladd and me (whose other marital pics would I go home with?? Haha) so every day the iPhone is a-snappin’. (Or clicking. Unless the sound is off on my phone! Then it’s not making any noise at all.)
On the food front, Ladd and I are sucking the marrow out of our vacation! Look at this pizza I had for lunch yesterday.
It was tremendously delicious, very Italian, and I ate half and took the rest back to our place…then had the other half as a snack an hour later. I’m on vacation!
Look at what Ladd had. I mean, have you ever seen anything so gorgeous? (The spaghetti and meatballs looked really good as well. 😂)
Oh! And I also ordered this.
It was really, really good.
Good morning, Ladd! Have I mentioned Ladd loves Vail t-shirts? We have been walking and walking and walking…this morning we did 2 miles at 7:15 am, and I felt like an Olympic track star. Just kidding.
Somewhere along the way, we had breakfast!
Pancakes and bacon for Ladd, egg white omelet for me. (Also, three bites of Ladd’s pancakes for me.) The coffee was my favorite part, though.
Pinkies up! And speaking of beverages…
Last night I ordered this drink. What I ordered was a white wine spritzer: wine, sparkling water, and a twist of lemon. What the bartender made me was white wine, Prosecco, a tiny splash of St. Germaine, pretty fruit, and a candied orange slice. It was so incredibly delicious and refreshing, I almost cried.
And back to my lunch date yesterday. I like it when he matches the umbrella.
We are truly having a wonderful time! Lots of togetherness, lots of walking and talking, plenty of good food, and the free time is a wonderful delicacy. We would totally move here to Vail, but we aren’t sure where we’d put our cows!
Also, tonight we are playing miniature golf and tomorrow we are taking a vertical hike…so my whole vibe might be different on my next update. Stay tuned!
