In addition to Res Ipsa, the store also carries a selection of other complementary brands including feather bow ties; , a Swedish swimwear brand; fragrances from New York-based Abbott and North Carolina-based Fulton & Roark; men’s shirting from New York-based Bonvivants; accessories from Craighill company; and outerwear from Cockpit USA.
Res Ipsa is known for upcycling vintage materials into luxury footwear and accessories. It is therefore fitting to bring new life to one of Aspen’s oldest buildings. Before Aspen, Colorado was known as Aspen, it was a silver mining town named Ute City. The Ute City Bank building was built by Prussian immigrant H.P. Cowenhoven, the first merchant to set up in Ute City, in 1859.
Renamed Aspen in 1890, the city quickly fell on hard times when the silver market collapsed in the Panic of 1893. Aspen resurrected itself as a resort town when WWII veterans from the 10th Mountain Division who fought in the Alps settled in Aspen after the war to ski recreationally.
